"Too little, too late"

"Too little, too late" has been the general consensus from most people, particularly the farmers, with regard to the isolated late season storms we have had here in the far west.

However, it is amazing to see how a dry environment reacts to even only a few millimetres of rain. Increases in the numbers of insects, snakes, lizards, and birds around the place is clearly evident. Annoyingly, the flies are as bad as they have ever been, in my time here.

The contrast of the storm clouds against the dry harsh environment make a dramatic scene. Some amazing sunsets have also played out thanks to these clouds.

The Budgies are definitely happy, and are possibly reacting with a localised breeding event if the amount of preening, kissing, and partner feeding I am seeing is anything to go off.

'yeah ...just...there'
The sheer vastness of the land, and the isolated rain storms, means you can drive all day through dry, drought stricken country, then hit an area totally green where a storm has passed through in the days or weeks before..

You wouldn't think that this..

Could burst into this with a little bit of rain..

In some places it is getting hard to spot the Dingo's..

Even some of the dune fields are looking slightly green with a covering of herbs, wildflowers and grasses.

All in all though, it wasn't a big wet season, and probably too little, too late for some.
